Customer Review: I have never heard a Nutcracker that was done more tastefully than this one. The faster tempos that some here complain about (I suspect simply because it's just not what they're 'accustomed' to) lend it an energy and drive that I have never heard before. As for being too fast for dancers, who cares?... more info
Customer Review: The singing, the acting, the orchestra are all first rate. Beautiful music, superb cast, everything adds up to a totally engaging presentation. The staging is sparse -- minimalist -- but it works well and is aided by excellent camera work. A thrilling Onegin, not to be missed!
Who doesn't know Tchaikovsky ? I mean yes, it took me a while to learn how to spell his name but the guy has supplied all those lucky who will listen with a lifetime of good music. This compilation starts of soothing and relaxing, just when your tea is still hot, later when it starts to cool... more info
Customer Review: I don't know opera. Last summer we had an incredible 20th anniversary trip to Italy. As a side trip from Venice, we planned a night in Verona. Customer Review: Find your loved one, get some tissue and escape into a world of desire and fantasy. All ages will love this music. Tender, soft, and relaxing with the hint of being alive again. Donald Lindsey

This version certainly stands up to any I've heard.
One disclaimer though is that I have seen Lang Lang in concert
and so I can... more info
Customer Review: There's something for every Tchaikovsky lover on this disc. From Swan Lake to Onegin, many of Tchaikovsky's most-known melodies are on this disc. I'd have preferred more than an excerpt of the first movement of Piano Concerto No. 1, but this disc is a great introduction to Tchaikovsky's works.
Customer Review: Valery Gergiev conducts Swan Lake for the forces of the Kirov, now once again called the Mariinsky Ballet. A new generation of talented dancers carries on the great tradition of the house, recorded in high resolution video and audio. During the overture we are treated to closeups of the... more info
