Customer Reviews: Avg. Customer Rating: 4.0 / 5.0 A pretty good book:
Short, But Small: For the logician or philosophy student, this book may be short. But in relation to the precise logical knowledge of most laymen, it's large enough (over a 100 pages). Priest covers a wide-range of ground and explains the subject at hand, always with a bit of context. He captures the readers interest by a brief visit with Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Then he presses countless necessary aspects of logic from truth tables to probability. I enjoyed how he brings in Frege, Russell, Aristotle, and many others as he... Not For The 1st Time Self Learner: I'm not a student in college. I'm just someone at home with an interest in learning Logic. This was the first book that I've read on the subject and I can say that it was very difficult for me to understand it. Even though I've tried and retried many times. For someone just starting out, and wanting to learn on there own I wouldn't recommend this book. A much better book is "Crimes Against Logic" by Whyte. Argh: The other reviews are right on the mark. My only problem is the book arrived with the first 18 pages (including front page, index, etc.) missing!
