McLarty's Reading Makes the Book:
I occasionally listen to books on my commute, and I find in that situation that thrillers work better than the more serious works of fiction, which demand more of the listener. Since the listener's experience of the book is entirely dependent on the reader's oral interpretation of the material, a good reader is absolutely key. Sometimes the reader can be distracting (as when an inappropriate choice of reader is made, like Burt Reynolds reading, in his soft Southern drawl, a Robert Parker Boston-set Spencer... more info
What is with all the 5 star ratings???:
This book was awful. I can't fathom it got so many 5 star ratings. It has so many flaws I don't know where to start. I threw the book in the trash instead of giving it to the library. I don't want to subject anyone to have to read this garbage.
Excellent:
I listen to this on my ipod touch as an audio book. I loved it! I couldn't stop listening to this wonderful story. This was my first camel club read and I plan on reading the entire series.
