It's no secret that children are getting fatter: 17% of this country's youth are overweight or obese, and the number of diabetic children has nearly quadrupled in the past thirty years. Now, to help combat the problem, David Zinczenko, editor-in-chief of Men's Health, and co-author Matt Goulding have created Eat This, Not That! for Kids. This must-have guide for concerned parents offers detailed analysis and nutritional tips on thousands of the most popular food choices for kids. Covering the best and worst options available at the most popular restaurants in the country as well as the healthiest--and most harmful--foods in the supermarket aisles, if kids are eating it, this book is probably analyzing it.

Required reading for all parents!:
This book, "Eat This, Not That, for Kids" is an excellent resource for parents. I am giving this copy to my daughter and will order another for my son, both parents of little children. I used to go to a restaurant and order with no idea of how calorie laden the food might be, but no longer. No wonder we are becoming so unhealthy. This book is presented in a very nice format, leaving the reader speechless when reviewing the calorie count of so many popular foods. How many of us can ignore these facts? This... more info
Kids can use on their own:
So much good information that children can learn and read on their own. But also good for anyone that eats and enjoys the food that the young enjoy. I learned a lot for my own use. I love mac and cheese good to know the better from the worse. also fast food is covered quite well. I got it for my grand daughter who is 11 but having body issues. This way she can eat but make good choices for herself. Not having parents manage her choices. Eat This Not That! for Kids!: Be the Leanest, Fittest Family on the... more info

One of the reasons we are excited about this book because it gives the power back to the people. Most people will make better choices if they know the consequences of not doing so. I have found that just by making children aware of their choices (and parents) they are happy to do so. This book... more info
Decent book, dangerous premise:
After hearing all the buzz about this book, my mother, a RN who teaches newly-diagnosed diabetic kids how to manage their diabetes, picked up a copy from the library. Back from my freshman year of college with little to do, I decided to read it. It does what it says fairly well; showing alternatives to fast food/processed food. Here are the two main problems: 1) Saying that your family can "be the leanest, fittest family on the block" by simply making these switches. This is absolutely false. This... more info
