24-bit digital remaster with new liner notes, complete lyrics and two bonus tracks: 'Fernando' (US Remix 1974) and 'Happy Hawaii' (Swedish Version).
At the height of their success, ABBA were second only to Volvo as Sweden's biggest export earners. Arrival (1977) sees the quartet just finding their stride, after a year of relative obscurity which followed the success of "Waterloo," their 1973 Eurovision Song Contest winner. Like their '70s peers ELO, ABBA knew the value of tunes, tunes, tunes. Arrival's hits include the glistening, full-on sheen of "Knowing Me, Knowing You," the irrepressible, piano-led disco stomp of "Dancing Queen," and the almost Cabaret-esque sarcasm of "Money, Money, Money"--all three cowritten by manager and mentor Stig Anderson. The album ends, meanwhile, on an almost Celtic theme with the soaring, wordless title track. Arrival is superconfident and superpolished, and was an unstoppably chartbound record of its moment. --Everett True

The arrival.:
With their fourth LP "Arrival", ABBA finally conquered the U.S. market. "Dancing Queen" was their one and only U.S. #1 single, and the album was one of their better sellers on this side of the Atlantic. "Arrival" is a first-rate pop music album, and was the group's best-produced album up to that time. The sound quality, although a bit darker than previous albums, showcases the group's sophistication and Euro-glamour while still being radio-friendly. The new remastered edition also includes "Fernando" and... more info
ABBA's "Arrival" to fame:
In 1976, disco fully got underway and this album is one of the main reason that happened. After all, it contained ABBA's most famous song and one of the most well-known disco songs of all time; "Dancing Queen". And while that song may be the most memorable thing here, there are many other classics present. Nearly all of the song on this album have become disco standards and several were charting singles. And indeed, ABBA was a singles band, and one of the most successful of the decade. Their "singles"... more info
See That Girl, Watch That Scene, Diggin' the Dancing Queen:
Aside from my favorites (Dancing Queen, Fernando, Money, Money, Money and Knowing Me, Knowing You) featured in both the stage/film version of "Mamma Mia!", this is the second best album for me. "Why Did It Have to Be Me" and the earlier version of "Happy Hawaii" are fun tracks to listen to. Another fine instrumental piece in "Arrival".
Longtime ABBA fan's review:
Again, another classic ABBA album of which I can truly say I love every song. Some of them may not have been hits, however, that is why I enjoy listening to my ABBA collections. I've heard those hits over and over again and would just as well listen to the not-so-popular songs which are just as enjoyable. I've come to enjoy those songs as much or more than the others. Loved "When I Kissed the Teacher", and the instrumental "Arrival". Also, "Why Did It Have To Be Me?" and "Happy Hawaii" -- couldn't believe... more info
