Seasoned, ready to use. This 12 inch skillet is a kitchen's most essential item. The even heating of cast iron is necessary for golden, tender, perfectly pan-fried chicken. What other cookware can rival the heat retention, versatility, value and durability of cast iron.
Pancakes, eggs, and bacon somehow taste extra hearty when cooked in a heavy cast-iron skillet. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Fry up a mess of catfish, roast a chicken, or bake an apple crisp in this generous 12-inch pan that features two handles for heavy lifting, and two subtle side lips for pouring. While the skillet comes preseasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, this virtually indestructible pan should last for generations.--Ann Bieri

30% Cheaper at Walmart:
I've just ordered it and after receiving shipping notice thought I would check Walmart. It is $18.97 at your local Walmart. Doh! For six bucks, I'd rather drive to Walmart. I guess Amazon's business model is not the same as Walmarts, far from it in fact. Oh well. Next time I'll check before ordering.
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM...YOU WILL BE SORRY!:
I purchased this skillet because of all the positive testimonials and because I am sick of buying new Siverstone and other non stick pans year after year. I realized this was not a non-stick product but given all the testimonials about the nonstick and easy cleanup perfromance, if cared for correctly, I was sold on the product! I received the skillet and it was very heavy...as expected. Even though it was "PRE-SEASONED" I followed instructions prior to first use and season it myself. The first item I cooked... more info
Suprising quality for the price:
I bought this pan because I needed a 12 inch cast iron skillet for one particular recipe, and didn't want to spend too much money on it. The pan is incredibly well made and sturdy. I would expect it to sell for much more money in the stores.
Product too unwieldy:
I neglected to gauge the size of this skillet and found that together with its cover, it was too large, heavy and unwieldy for my small stovetop. I should have paid more attention to details. I was able to give it to a relative, who loves it.
