Since 1983, PEC-12, Photographic Emulsion Cleaner has been trusted by the world's most prestigious photographers, labs, museums and publishers. Not only does PEC-12 routinely save many of their most valuable images, but it is the only archival cleaner available. What good is cleaning an image today, only to have the emulsion slowly deteriorate over time? PEC-12 is a non-water based film and print cleaner which removes virtually all non-water based stains from color and B&W slides, negatives and prints. PEC-12 removes grease pencil, adhesive residue, finger oils, ball-point pen, fungus, smoke & soot damage, laser separation oil and most permanent inks. Containing no water, PEC-12 dries instantly with no emulsion swelling and leaves no residue.

No responce:
Have not used this product much yet, so I don't have a good responce yet.
Powerful Stuff:
Works as advertised. A friend asked me to restore a photograph that had salsa on it. I decided to try this product to reduce the level of stain before I did my restoration scan. I'm glad I scanned one time before using the cleaner. It took off a little more than I wanted. My fault as maybe I used too much pressure. Read and follow the instructions
Cleans some ink, some stains, but not all:
I purchased this cleaner to prepare scanning photos from at least 30 years ago. Generally, a small spray will clean the surface. Some photos had ink spots or water stains, and not all were cleanable. I haven't detected exactly what it will clean, but keep in mind it will not clean all ink spots or water spots. If you have a picture that has dirty marks on it, it will NOT come clean, even with extra swiping. Cleaning your photos is a gamble. The spray bottle is small, use sparingly, plus instructions... more info
Yep, this is the stuff.:
It's recommended by pros. I used it on my vintage Ektachrome slides, and then scanned at 300 dpi. No damage, no scratches. Like they say, only a drop or 2 does it.
