The USDA recommends pressure canning as the only safe method for low-acid foods such as vegetables, meats, and poultry. The sturdy lid locks down during canning or cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. I purchased this pressure canner recently & have used it to can our produce coming from our garden. I compared brands & prices for canners at retail & online, but found Amazon to have the absolute best deal. There is one small problem that I have had to adjust to w/using this canner. I was actually scared of this when I first got it. By the way I recieved it the next day!I let it sit for about a week, reading the instructions. I had heard horror stories about pressure cooking. The instructions were clear and even told you how to do a test run so you can get the feel of your pressure canner. I havent stopped canning since.
Presto 23-qu pressure canner (01781) can be used on glass top stoves:
I had a hard time finding a pressure cooker that would be okay for a glass top stove. This canner has a special bilevel bottom so that it fits on your burner. The 23qu also allows you to do cold water bath canning with quarts unlike the 16qu.
