Even though I prefer rechargeable this animals come in quite handy. You never have enough so it is best to purchase them in this value pack. I pretty much know that a battery is a battery however like knowing when I had a new haircut it just feels better to use a name brand. Just be sure, when opening the pack to rip through the plastic part of the container or you will ruin the proof of purchase. The package says that the batteries have a 7-year shelf life but I do not see the expiration date.more info

I bought this package because it was perfect for my immediate needs - I had just bought 2 bow lights and 2 stern lights for 2 kayaks, which required a grand total of 16 AA batteries to operate. I never use alkaline batteries unless I absolutely have to - I really try to stick with the NiMH batteries where they make sense, in high-drain electronics or items that will be used immediately. But these kayak lights will only be used when we are out on the water after dark, which is not likely to happen more... more info
