Surface mount laser square that provides visible square lines. Auto leveling. Can be mounted to surface with 3M command adhesive strips.
Strait-Line's claim that this is "the most capable laser level ever built" is an invitation to skepticism, but folks, after spending a little time with this model, we think it's true. Yes, there are other laser levels on the market that project both a horizontal and vertical line, but we've never seen one that lets you access the exact point of intersection---this one does, so every job gets off to a flawless start. And flawless it is, because the Intersect self-levels within 8 degrees on a vertical surface. All you have to do is attach it to the wall (more on that in a minute) as close to vertical as you can, and Strait-Line's amazing technology projects perfectly level and plumb lines with zero guesswork for a 30 foot total horizontally and 20 feet vertically. (We'll do the math for you: That's a 600 square foot work area.) Mind you, the auto-leveling feature works on a vertical surface only, but use on the floor doesn't require leveling anyway. Another feature to love is that it leaves no marks on the wall; there are no pins to push in. Instead, Strait-Line has incorporated 3M's revolutionary Command Adhesive. Just peel, stick and remove the whole shebang when you're done, without a trace. Accuracy is outstanding, to within +/- 1/8 inch at 15 feet. This is a great tool for just about anybody, from contractors and cabinet installers to art galleries, builders, home decorators and of course, the intrepid do-it-yourselfer.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Perfect leveling tool:
Easy tool to use for leveling pictures with two hooks, shelves, chair rails, cabinet installation, and just about anything else one can imagine where knowing the level is important. The verticle axis is great, also. I used it for aligning verticle shelf supports and placing several rows of coat hooks. I liked the product so well that I bought a second for myself and one for a relative.
works well for my needs:
I buy, remodel, and sell old houses. This tool has been used to shim up a floor where the house itself could not be leveled, set lines for cabinets, and has helped in the purchase (or non-purchase) of several old houses by showing problem areas in floors or non plumb walls that could not be fixed. In a pinch, and although the manual says it will not work, it can be set on a floor to check floor levels over about a 40' run by placing it in the middle of the run. The base will rock some to come to level on... more info
Good for home projects:
It served its purpose well for the renovation projects around my house. I gave it four versus five star rating only because the black slider switch is a bit tough to move from one position to the next as it needs more grip(s) on the top surface.
Works great once it calms down:
The self-leveling part can take a while to settle down to level, especially if you "unlock" it before getting it steady. But otherwise this works great and has saved me lots of re-measuring and re-nailing. I love that it shows you the cross-section and has lines going horizontal and vertical.
