Dark roast with hearty taste with a light desirable toasty flavor. While not bitter, it is certainly not for the faint of heart.

The Best I've Had:
I've tried most of the K-Cup flavors out there and the Diedrich (French Roast)flavor is absolutely the best in my opinion.

Weak, Weak, Weak...:
I'm a strong coffee drinker and thought to myself that a French Roast is a bold coffee. Well, I didn't find this to be very "bold" so I can't rate it well according to my taste for coffee. If you like strong coffee like we do - consider these: 1. Green Mountain Dark Magic
2. Green Mountain Sumatra
3. Emeril's Extra Bold
4. Newman's Own Extra Bold That being said, some people don't like the strong taste of coffee so take my advice only if you are a strong coffee drinker.
Rich and flavorful French Roast:
I have to agree, I have tried a number of other brands and the Diedrich French Roast is richer and more flaorful. The others have tasted thin. Almost a completely different machine with this French Roast. I have no idea why, buy it is worth trying.
