A Mango is a sweet, delicious fruit. It can be difficult to peel and slice, however. Traditionally cooks instruct people that the following steps should be followed to open a Mango - Cut off the stem of the mango; Hold the fruit upright, cupping it in the palm of your hand; With the other hand, use a potato peeler or a paring knife to cut away the peel, following the curves of the fruit; Lay the fruit on its flat end and slice lengthwise, working around the flat seed in the middle. Makes it so easy:
I recently found a recipe that calls for cubed mango and this little item makes it so much easier to cut the fruit. There isn't as much waste either. Highly recommend it. Not hard to use at all. Just make sure you hold the fruit at the correct angle and push down slowly with the chopper. Pop it in the dishwaher and you are good to go next time!

When I first saw this, I hesitated because I thought it was expensive for a simple slicer - but it was worth it! To be able to cut a mango so that it's not a mess allows you to get the most out of the fruit, as well as saving you cleanup. I've had it for weeks and am a mango lover, so it got plenty of use. For those who had a problem, the secret is to use a ripe, not overripe mango. Like any other fruit, mangos shouldn't be mushy but reasonably firm. It doesn't work, at all!:
Maybe its just me but I've never been able to split a mango using this tool, no matter the size of the mango. I would not recommend buying this as I believe it would be a waste of money.
