A good axe for the money:
I've been around axes for a long time. And as you probably know, you can spend hundreds of dollars on an axe, just as you can spend hundreds of dollars on a knife. You will easily be able to find better axes, at a much higher price. Thats not the point of this hatchet. This axe is a great value for the money. I use it to cut firewood. unsafe, what is Gerber thinking:
No pros, all cons. First, this product comes in the plastic packaging the everyone hates and requires a knife to open it. The saw blade and axe blade are exposed for display inside the plastic packaging. This makes a slightly dangerous situation when tearing open the package itself. Second, the axe blade is a bit dull. Third, and importantly, the design of item and how it holds the saw blade in the handle of the axe is flawed and unsafe. Only a weak magnet holds the saw blade inside the axe handle. Great tool but be aware!:
This tool is fantastic for camping/wilderness survival as it has many uses. The blade is sharp and great for splitting small logs and the saw is in great condition and i tried it out cutting branches and it worked well. I give the axe 5 stars however the sheath i give 1. The sheath is poorly made, crap quality and doesnt even fit the axe. Nice product:
I am a Gerber blade fan in general, and this product is no exception. The blade so far seems to hold its edge. My only 'complaint' is that this is more of a hatchet than an axe.
