I have been buying and using Makita battery tools for over 20 years. I started with the 7.2volt drill. I still have it and it still works well. I am a contractor and use my tools every day. I have tried other brands but always sell or give them away and come back to Makita. I am hoping that Makita doesn't let the Chinese downgrade their products. I recently upgraded to the 18 volt li-ion from the 14.2 volt units and am very pleased. The feel and operation of the tools is excellent. Will buy more Makita as... more info

Makita has a major battery marketing problem. I got the Makita combo pack for xmas and guess what, it came with 2 18v batteries. This stuff is not cheap folks. I was excited because I thought, now I could invest in a single battery technology because all the Makita L-ion batteries say 18v this and 18v that. I was tired of lugging around Dewalt 18, 24, and 28 packs everywhere.
