Picture CD is a CD-R or CD-RW disc on which you can store your MP3 and digital pictures. When inserting a Picture CD in the DVD player, a screen menu will pop up, showing your JPEG's and/or MP3 files on the disc. Just select the music and pictures files you wish to enjoy and press play or OK. You can watch your pictures on TV with your music playing simultaneously.
Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. I bought this for my son. He loves it. He had problems with his old DVD player playing all of his DVD. He stated that he has no problems with this one. I really like it for the money. Thanks

The player is what you would expect from a Samsung. It works well and the upscaling is good.
Only down side is the time it takes to eject the DVD (they have the same problem on their blu-ray players).
Note, this is multiFORMAT not multiZONE.
This does work!:
I heard about some DVD players that can play different region codes. It is true, and this is one of them. I think you must, first, set it up by entering a special code. Someone is already explaining how to do it here, so you just need to read that review.
It does make a very small high tone noise when it is at the "stand by" mode. It's much quieter than my refrigerator's noise, and I can only recognize it when I am at the right next to the unit. Otherwise, I would have rated this product 5-stars.more info
