The foams are sometimes itchy and irritating. They also collect ear gunk fast. These are the best foams to use to keep out the sound in my opinion. However, I would not pay that much for peices of foam to replace dirty ones. So instead I found out that you can just tie them in a sock and put them in with the laundry and they come out just like new!
Best all round Shure Ear Piece:
Shure offers several ear pieces for the E3, E4, and other similarly designed headphones. I find the yellow foam sleeves the best in terms of fit and ambient noise reduction. By design however; any headphone which fits in the ear canal will never be as good as a headphone which sits on- or covers the entire ear. Comfortable:
These foam ear foams block out outside noises and are very comfortable to wear. I had some trouble getting them to fit on the earpiece, but they are worth the struggle.
A must have for shure earphones:
I have tried many times of sleeves for my Shure 3C. I even had custom sleeves specifically made for my ears. None worked as well as this one. It stays in the ear very well and provides excellent isolation. The only drawback is that you have to replace it fairly often.
