Porter-Cable is not the quality it used to be.:
Porter-Cable has a history of building quality tools. Unfortunately that is not the case any more. I have purchased several nail guns and compressors and have always been shocked at how fast they break. Granted, they are cheap. If you only want it for a one time use and can't rent better tools it might make sense. If you want a tool that won't break in a couple of months, stick with Senco, Dewalt, or Ridgid.
Another Great Porter Cable Product!:
Bought this kit for $300 at the local hardware depot. First air compressor tool set for me. Compressor instructions were very thorough, making set up very easy! Compressor is quieter that my smaller one, and only recharged once for all the trim work I was doing. Nail guns work extremely well. Was pinning up white primered trim and door jams, no greasy spots left behind. Nail depth set level adjusts easy. Guns were all too easy to use, load them up, connect the quick disconnets, and fire away. Nice part is... more info
First Impressions:
I purchased mine at the orange vest store and it was as good of a deal as I could find anywhere at the time I write this review. I'm giving this unit 5 stars, although I had to return the first one I bought due to a faulty regulator. I was not getting any reading on the output, but the tank pressure was 140. The second one I got worked fine and tank pressure is actually 152. I loved the fact that I was able to drive down to the store and replace it immediately after releasing the pressure and draining the... more info
Oil-free = designed to break down:
This deal seemed to good to be true. I've owned 2 of these little units now, and to be fair - they both worked great for a year to two years. THEN, when you need them most - they break down, and because they are "oil-free," they are sealed and unfixable. So if spending $300 every 1-2 years is what you want to do - keep buying these. Otherwise you're wasting your money.
