The Wii Component Video Cable allows you to hook your Wii console system to a high-definition TV (HDTV) or enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) to view 480p progressive output. 480p progressive output displays at a higher resolution than standard 480i resolution.
Please note that your TV must be a high-definition TV (HDTV) or enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) to view 480p output. You will also be required to change your Wii settings from Standard TV (480i) to EDTV/HDTV to view 480p.
You cannot see Wii progressive display output when the Wii console system is hooked to a TV using any other kind of cable.
This component video cable is for the Wii and will not work with any other system. In addition, the Nintendo GameCube Component Video Cable will not work with the Wii.
The Wii Component Cable links your Wii console to your TV, allowing you to view and enjoy your games with the best possible image display. Component video splits the signal into three separate channels of video information for the ultimate connection quality. The cable includes five connectors - three for video, and two for left and right stereo audio.

Wii official component video cable - works as intended:
This review is for the official Nintendo Wii component cable. I purchased this cable to add a second setup for the wii in a bedroom and still keep the original cables hooked up to a big screen TV. The only reason I purchased the component cables was the price. I wasn't expecting any improved video quality because the Wii is limited to 480p video output.
Video image improved:
Images are sharper using this cable. I was able to plug this cable into the back of my A/V receiver without extensions. Product as described.
Do not buy non-Nintendo cable!:
After having trouble with cables made by other companies, I decided to order the official Nintendo cable. Simply put, it works. It is reliable.
Considering the Wii is not HD, this does a good job.:
The Nintendo Wii component cables do a good job for what the system is capable of. It certainly clears up the picture, versus the RCA plugs. The cable is long enough for just about any set up. It is a thick, well shielded cable, and I have not experienced any interference from other cables in the vicinity. If you have a TV with component inputs then it is well worth the increase in picture quality.
