Runs on batteries??:

It's an inexpensive phone, so the cheap feel to it is to be expected.
I was surprised to see that it took batteries. A corded desk phone? It turns out that the phone simply doesn't work at all without the batteries. And a set of 4 new AA batteries lasted only three days before expiring, making the phone worthless.
It really should come with an AC power supply, but I don't understand why they can't run it off the power supplied in the phone line.

Great phone,speaker phone is not good.:

This is a great phone however,the folks at AT&T haven't done their homework as the speaker-phone is really bad. You get feedback and unless your right on top of it,the other party cannot hear you-you fade in and out as prior reviewers have stated. I would take a Panasonic over AT&T,however the 1 line Panasonic does not have spekaer phone. AT&T needs WAKE UP CALL! Stop producing Chinese garbage! What does it take to make something good? Great corded phone with all the features I was looking for. Good value for my money.

Disappointed:

I did some comparisons for wired phones. Phone is just average, however I was disappointed that it did not have a lighted caller ID window. It's very hard to see anything in the window.
