I'm sticking with MS Office 2004:
I've used Microsoft Office 2004 for quite awhile on my three Mac PowerBook G4s and have never had any problems. Nonetheless, I was anxious to try this updated 2008 version. I had no problems with the installation, although, like others, I was highly annoyed with all the updates that had to be downloaded right off the bat. I used the new MS Office 2008 for a few weeks, but didn't really notice a huge improvement over the 2004 version. In fact, like at least one other reviewer here, the program froze on a... more info
Great Productivity Software Suite for the Mac:
I have a MacBook Pro and previously owned the MS Office 2004 edition. When I first converted from a PC, I found myself stumbling around the 2004 applications looking for things. The 2007 release of MS Office changed to a "ribbon" interface that is similar to the toolbar setup of MS 2008 for Mac. It should make for a smoother transition for new MS Office for Mac users. Excellent for Mac:
It's nice to have Office 2008 for Mac. Things aren't where you're used to in Windows, but it's still easier to navigate than any other version of Office. This flavor of Office is fully loaded with lots of extras you will probably never use, but is great to have as a backup.
Works perfect on my Mac:
Although I love to use apple's version, iWork. Sometimes I get some files sent over to me that I can't open up or there will be some compatibility issues. Luckily I have the Microsoft Office suite to use. It is the same old office with a fresher look. It is familiar to use and it is pretty fairly easy to use. I love the fact that they have a mac version. I hated the fact that before I had to use parallels or boot camp just to use the office version that I had for windows.
