About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Swiss Army Knife (mini):
Greetings, I placed an order for 3 mini Swiss Army Knives (red), the order was promptly filled and shipped, but unfortunately after 4 weeks and many calls to the local USPS office, they found that the shipment had been returned as undeliverable. If you know any thing about Philadelphia and the USPS right now, you'll get the picture. Excellent knife for those minor fingernail grooming, loose threads on clothes, paper cutting or other minor cutting chores.
Classic for a reason:
Each year, I give these little classic knives as gifts to an assortment of people. With the restrictions on knives on aircraft now, they are always appreciated. Since owning and using these on a daily basis for many years, I have yet to have one break or be problematic. I do oil the hinges every year or so at least, more when the knife is used often.
