I'm glad to get the DVD replacement for my worn out VHS copy:
This is almost identical [in content] to my VHS copy. The DVD video and sound is far more clear. I'm glad to have it in my library.

I feel as if I havn't really seen this movie because of all of the new scenes that are included in this dvd. Its great! If you like the TV version you will love this one.

i remember when this was on TV 12 yrs ago (1996) as a 2 night special. i loved watching it on TV, had the VHS player all set up to copy it and the soda and chips out both nights. was a great movie. i love Peter Benchley's books. the movie was almost a perfect match to the book minus some small parts. if your after a movie that will entertain you, make you laugh, make you sad and make you happy then this is a goer. if you like The Beast then check out Creature (1998) another movie based on Benchley's book... more info
Finally found my son's favorite movie!!:
I had been searching HIGH and LOW for the movie " THE BEAST " for my son,who currently is fascinated with squids. From video rental stores, to SAMS, Fred Meyers, video stores, and even second hand thrift shops! I couldn't find this movie anywhere, when I finally realized HELLO! Amazon.com!
