This battery extender works as it says. I only gave it 4 stars because I have to remove my ipods from their cases/skins in order to attach the charger. This is mainly due to the minimal space provided by the charger. The battery must be pushed flat against the ipod in order to begin charging, if your case/skin does not allow this you will have to remove it or buy a dock extender. Great full charge for my iphone:

This was a great battery back up for my iphone. I used my iphone for an entire day, email, maps, GPS, taking photos & showing photos, playing games ect. I could use my phone all day because it was like having 1 extra battery charge with me at all times. Mine doesn't really do more than one charge and then it's pretty much dead. My own experience:

I purchased three of these, opened one, used it for about 2 weeks seemed to work on my iphone 3g. Charged the phone up in about 40 minutes.
CONS:
1) after 2 weeks, nothing at all, no charge even if i left this thing charging all night, it would not even charge or be recognized by the iphone.. weird
2) uses a usb to mini-usb to connect to it's power source then iphone connector to connect to the phone, DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO SYNC OR ANY OTHER FUNCTION OF THE DOC CONNECTOR.

I too should have read the other reviews more closely before buying this product. The one I received last week DOES work with firmware version 2.2. However, one cannot use earphones when it is plugged in. It would be good for an iPhone as an emergency recharger as one could continue to use the phone while it is recharging.
