Great camera for the price!:

I went from a Canon A-1 to this, and haven't looked back! The greatest feature of this camera: It's fun to use! I guess this is a common feature to all digital cameras. You are able to see your picture right away, and make exposure corrections as needed for that perfect picture. This encourages you to take more pictures, and instantly learn from your mistakes. Great Way to Get Started:

I bought a Rebel XS in transition from film to digital photography. It is a great way for beginners and advanced users to enter the digital realm. It takes decent pictures with the included kit lens and is very easy to use. It has a ton of features and prepared me to step up to the semi-professional 7D a few months later.

Great DSLR for starters:

Great DLSR for starters in photography. Great image quality, great battery life, the controls are all so easy to use. The only thing is that the max ISO speed is 1600, I personally think it could be more, maybe 3200....
Other than that, the Rebel XS is the perfect DSLR for me.

Great Entry Camera from someone that wants more than a Point and Shoot:

I bought this camera a year ago from Amazon and have absolutely loved using it. I was able to learn a lot about the creativity modes on this camera but for those of you that don't have a big interest in learning this, if still comes with the different auto settings that all Point and Shoot cameras come with. I think that this would be a great gift for someone that is wanting to learn photography without a huge price tag. Then they can always upgrade later on if and when they out grow this one.
