Mel Brooks's 1987 parody of the Star Wars trilogy is a jumble of jokes rather than a comic feature, and, predictably, some of those jokes work better than others. The cast, including Brooks in two roles, more or less mimics the principal characters from George Lucas's famous story line, and the director certainly gets a boost from new allies (SCTV graduates Rick Moranis and John Candy) as well as old ones (Dick Van Patten, Dom DeLuise). Watch this and wait for the sporadic inspiration--but don't be surprised if you find yourself yearning for those years when Brooks was a more complete filmmaker (Young Frankenstein). --Tom Keogh

Quality Satire.:

Im no big Mel Brooks fan, by any means, and Im a harsh critic of crapness, but in these days of Scary Movie 12 and whatnot, the high quality spoof is hard to find.
Which makes it well worthwhile engaging your tachyon drive (oh spare me!) and warping (stop it!) back to 1987 and enjoying this very well done spoof, full of classic sci-fi rip offs, but done well. Even the obvious gags are delivered with fun, and Rick Moranis is a towering collossus of comedy in this, as the hilarously double entendre-ed... more info

i thought the imaging is much better than it was on vhs and the price was great too. This movie is much better to have on dvd.

Spaceballs:

I love Mel Brooks movies, so this is going to be a positive review. I continually use lines from this movie, like "I'm surrounded by ***holes". I would recommend this movie to other comedy lovers. I even had a copy sent to a friend because he's never had the enjoyment of seeing this particular movie.
